What’s on TV
SHARK WEEK on Discovery. Someday, people might get sick of sharks. But that day is not coming anytime soon. Two new films featuring sharks wreaking havoc, “The Meg” and “The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time,” will arrive in August. Before then, Discovery’s gleefully star-studded Shark Week celebrates 30 years. At 7 p.m., catch ALIEN SHARKS GREATEST HITS, which scopes out strange sea creatures living in the deep ocean. It is followed by three brawny celebrities mingling with sharks: Bear Grylls (at 8), Shaquille O’Neal (at 9) and Ronda Rousey (at 10).
SOMETHING’S KILLING ME WITH BD WONG 8 p.m. on HLN. BD Wong has often played doctors and scientists in television shows and movies, lending his fake expertise to “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” “Law & Order,” “Nurse Jackie” and more. He doesn’t pick up a scalpel for this medical docu-series, but hosts each episode as experts dive into confounding medical crises. In the Season 2 premiere, doctors and scientists examine children who were hospitalized after swimming in a lake and developing headaches, high fevers and seizures.
BAR RESCUE 10 p.m. on Paramount Network. This series, which attempts to rehabilitate local watering holes, turns its attention to a family-owned bar in Puerto Rico that was destroyed by Hurricane Maria. The host Jon Taffer heads to Loíza, Puerto Rico, where he is joined by Bernie Williams, Luis Guzmán and J.J. Barea to rebuild the bar. The group also fixes up a local community center with basketball courts and a baseball field
